Questions for Journal Entry-Social Justice
How did you feel while presenting your self-assessment to the class?
How did you feel when you heard the different biases held by people in this class?
What are you going to do in this course/outside of this course to shed your biases?
Do you ever take the time to think about the person’s perspective for whom you hold a bias (for example-people who don’t speak English, people who wear Ed Hardy shirts, people who dress gangster-Why do they act in this way?)
Could you feel empathy for the groups of people that you hold a bias against? (can you empathize with a homeless man/woman?)
Remember that a the aim of social justice—to achieve a just and equitable society where all share in the prosperity of that society—is pursued by individuals and groups through collaborative social action.
